Mytoolbox is an app that allows you to choose the tools you need, among hundreds of options, to set up that project you have in mind, and rent them for as long as you need.

UX Tools: surveys, interviews, lean UX, empathy map, competitive analysis, user persona, user journey, user flow, MoSCoW, card sorting, brainstorming, mind map, crazy-8, low-fidelity prototype, concept testing.
UI Tools: Design System, moodboard, wireframing, atomic design, brand attributes, desirability testing, style tile, style guide, high-fidelity prototype.

🖋️Objetive

We decided to focus on a problem that we had been facing in recent weeks. To find the tools we need to fix something at home, to restore that piece of furniture that we have in a corner, or to assemble the ideas that we had in mind.

The main goal we wanted to achieve with the project is to give access to all the "DIY" people to the tools they need. To promote the second life of the furniture, encourage creativity and give options to share the use and access to thousands of tools.

Methodology and process

To learn more about the opinions and insights, and after making a roadmap with the action plan, we conducted surveys and interviews. We analyzed the different insights and made different processes of definition, ideation, conceptualization, prototyping and later testing.

With only two weeks, planning is essential to arrive at the test date with the product as completed as possible. So we set up a work structure;
iteration process - Design Thinking
Project plan by days: (1) Break down and understand our objectives and identify possible challenges. (2) Create a range of potential solutions. (3) Brainstorm opportunities to solve. (4) Identify stakeholders and next steps. (4) Propose user needs and product MVP needs. (5) Define the design path and prototyping flow. (6) Sketching and wireframing screens. (7) Organize and propose different design system elements. (8, 9, 10) High-fi prototype design. (11) Develop interactions and design prototyping. (12) Propose a plan of action for testing and next iteration steps.

Problem Statement

People want to carry out ideas and manual projects but do not have access to the tools.

The main reasons for this situation are;
 - High costs of certain tools.
 - Few hours of use (punctual uses).
 - People do not have space to accumulate them.

User persona - mytoolkit
Another big challenge we faced was how to display the search results. Mytoolkit brings together a multitude of tools with name, different brands, and a multitude of accessories. For an optimal user experience, we had to find a way to provide all this information in a convenient and intuitive way. How would you organize these tools so that people can browse and find them quickly?

Thanks to design thinking methods that brings proven methods and processes we defined a product that was worth to build.

We conducted a dynamic card-sorting exercise to create an information architecture that matched users' search expectations. We had all our potential users group a selection of tools according to their criteria. After grouping these cards we asked to our users to name all the categories. In this way we were able to explore multiple organization options according to they criteria.
CARD-SORING process for information architecture.

We tested that the best option was to priorice the search bar and add categories recommendations. And show in a second line with subcategories the frequent searches and keywords. With these two sections we intend to save time and facilitate the search to our future users.

How could we...

    ...give access to the tools that each user needs?
    ...make available the tools we need?
    ...bring the tools to the users?
    ...make people to restore more?
    ...rent tools?
    ...pay for the tools we use together?
